Hanover Township will host a hiring event Jan. 29 for Harbor Freight Tools, a retailer of auto and power tools. The California-based company is looking for more than 40 employees for its Hanover Park location, slated to open in spring 2014.

"They've got a large load of employees to take on right now," said Sean Grimes, the township's employment services manager.

The township has previously held two events for businesses searching for new hires.

"Residents will have the opportunity to interview for local jobs right on the spot," Trustee Steve Caramelli said in a statement.

One-on-one job counseling also is available to residents at the township's Elgin and Hanover Park offices. In February, a job club open to the public will offer tips on using LinkedIn.

The hiring event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the township's Town Hall, 250 S. Route 59 in Bartlett. For details, call (630) 540-9085 or visit
