CLC joins Engineering Pathways partnership with U of I

Future engineers are guaranteed admission to the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign through the College of Lake County's new Engineering Pathways program. Qualified students accepted into the program will complete their first two years of the engineering program at CLC and then transfer to the U of I's prestigious engineering school. The option offers students considerable cost savings, allowing them to complete two years of work toward a degree at CLC's more affordable cost ($3,360 tuition and fees per year compared to $20,178 at U of I ).While completing the required set of courses, students must maintain a competitive GPA and participate in tutoring and advising.

An information session will be held at the CLC Grayslake campus at 7 p.m. on Feb. 11 in Room C003, featuring representatives from UIUC and CLC. Students from populations underrepresented in engineering are encouraged to apply for the program, which has a Feb. 28 deadline for a fall semester 2014 start. The program prepares students to enter any of the U of I engineering programs. More details will be provided during the advising process. CLC joins a select group of community colleges in the Engineering Pathways program, including College of DuPage, Harper, Kishwaukee and Parkland. Engineering Pathways builds on the existing engineering education programs at CLC, including the Associate in Engineering degree program and the Engineering Club, which meets for social events, professional speakers, tours, projects to explore the different engineering fields, networking and other events. In addition, a need-based scholarship sponsored by the National Science Foundation assists students in reaching their academic goals.
