Aquatics manager appointed in Des Plaines

Des Plaines Park District officials have appointed Matt Hartnett as the district's new aquatics and youth programs manager.

Hartnett will oversee management of the Iroquois and Chippewa neighborhood pools and the Mystic Waters Family Aquatic Center during the summer, as well as district youth programs.

Hartnett had been supervisor of the Round Lake Area Park District aquatic center since March 2007. Officials say he has experience recruiting, training and mentoring lifeguards, pool and beachfront staff, providing in-service training, and enforcing pool rules and regulations for staff and residents.

His appointment in Des Plaines took effect Jan. 6.
