Clip: Rauner ‘adamantly’ against minimum wage hike

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner is again explaining his reversal on raising the minimum wage after video footage surfaced of him saying he’s “adamantly, adamantly” opposed.

The venture capitalist has been under fire for comments he made last month advocating to cut Illinois’ $8.25 rate to the national $7.25 rate. He then changed course, saying Thursday he’d support an increase under the right circumstances. Rauner says his comments at the December forum were too “flippant.”

However, the video captures Rauner talking at a September Ford County Republicans gathering where he says he’s “adamantly, adamantly” opposed. The Chicago Sun-Times posted the clip online Thursday. It was produced by American Bridge 21st Century, a Democratic-funded super PAC.

A spokesman says Rauner has learned his lesson about giving more well thought-out answers.
