Dining events: LongHorn packs the new year with flavor

Winter at LongHorn

Hearty flavors and comfort foods fill the new winter menu at LongHorn Steakhouse. New items include blue crab and Meyer lemon filet grilled on a bed of asparagus and topped with lump blue crab and a sweet Meyer lemon and hollandaise sauce, 6 ounces for $23.49 or 8 ounces for $26.99. Or try blackened salmon and cheddar grits 7 ounces for $17.49 or 10 ounces for $19.49. New appetizers include garlic mussels for $8.79, roasted butternut squash risotto for $3.99, and the winter brie salad for $5.49. Pappadeaux's specialties

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen is serving up seasonal specialties starting with the grilled Mediterranean skewer with shrimp brochette, sea scallops and mahi-mahi with fresh tomato and arugula barley salad for 29.95. Or stop in for some oysters served Monday through Thursday for $7.95 per dozen and served with a choice of cocktail sauce, horseradish or the soy sauce-based dipping sauce. Bulldog's daily deals

There's no secret to Bulldog Ale House's kick A-Y-C-E hot wings. It's in the sauce, they say, where on Tuesdays you're free to tackle as many as you can eat for $10.99.
