A former West Chicago woman was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail and two years of probation on charges she sexually assaulted a child she once cared for.
Amy Keller-Friedman, now of Wyoming, Mich., was taken into custody Monday morning to begin serving the 30 day sentence in DuPage County jail. With good behavior, she will serve 15 days of the sentence. Upon her release, she also must perform 100 hours of community service and serve two years probation.
According to court documents, she also must register as a sex offender for 10 years.
Keller-Friedman, now 33, was charged in May 2012 for the offenses which took place between August 1999 and September 2003.
During that time, she baby-sat for the female victim who was between the age of 4 and 9. Officials said the victim repressed the memories of the abuse for some time but eventually came forward, allowing for Keller-Friedman's prosecution.
Keller-Friedman pleaded guilty to criminal sexual abuse in December in exchange for the state dropping several additional counts.
