Fire strikes Bensenville strip mall

A fire Thursday morning at a Bensenville strip mall forced the closure of Irving Park Road between Church Street and Route 83, authorities said.

The Bensenville Fire District was called to the scene about 5:20 a.m. in the 700 block of West Irving Park Road. The blaze affected the Bensenville Plaza strip mall containing Lety's Unisex hair salon and Panaderia Dorcas bakery, among other stores.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities were not immediately available to comment on injuries or damage estimates.
