108th Sustainment Brigade to ship out from Chicago

The 108th Sustainment Brigade of the Illinois National Guard is planning a deployment ceremony before shipping out for overseas.

Approximately 280 soldiers of the Chicago-based brigade will deploy to Kuwait in support of Operating Enduring Freedom.

A deployment ceremony will be Jan. 4 at the Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park.

The soldiers in the brigade will train at Fort Hood, Texas, before deploying for approximately 10 months. During the past year the unit has participated in training exercises at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and at the Illinois National Guard’s training center in Marseilles (mar-SAYLES’).

In Kuwait, the 108th will provide mission command and will conduct sustainment and supply, postal, and human resources services, contract oversight and finance operations in support of the Unified Land Operations’ mission.
