Hanover Township toy drive benefits local families

More than 730 families received gifts this year as a result of the Hanover Township Toy Drive and Sponsor-a-Family programs, officials said.

Residents picked up presents from their sponsors and selected items from the toy drive last weekend at the Hanover Township Senior Center in Bartlett.

“As always, the community really stepped up and took care of our less fortunate neighbors this holiday season,” said Hanover Township Supervisor Brian P. McGuire in a news release. “We are grateful for all those that donated toys, sponsored families or volunteered their time at the toy pickup.”

Donations were received from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Streamwood, Knights of Columbus Mary’s Millennium 12801, St. Peter Damien Catholic Church in Bartlett, Whole Foods of Schaumburg, Communities That Care, Claire’s, R&B Youth Foundation, Elgin Bible Church, Rydin Dental and Gymkhana.
