Metea Valley upends Aurora Central
Aurora Central Catholic could not come back from a very slow start in a 56-42 loss to Metea Valley on Thursday at the Oswego East Tournament.
The Chargers trailed 15-3 at the end of the first quarter. Aurora Central was led by Gabi Alfaro with 11 points and Maggie O’Brien with 8.
The Chargers (7-4) play at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Oswego East.
Dunlap 52, Aurora Christian 41: The Eagles came up short on the first day of the Dixon Christmas Tournament, falling to 8-5 on the season.
Alyssa Andersen led the Eagles with 13 points. Kirsten Madsen scored 11 points, Natasha Brown had 7 points and 17 rebounds and Melissa Moser had 4 points and 9 rebounds.
Stillman Valley 46, Kaneland 39: Also at the Dixon Tournament, the Knights (6-7) couldn’t overcome 33 percent shooting and 23 turnovers.
Katie Brinkman and Camri Conley both scored 9 points to lead Kaneland.
St. Charles East 44, Waubonsie Valley 21: The Saints bounced back from an opening loss to Lyons at the Wheaton North Falcon Classic by shutting down the Warriors.
Katie Claussner led the Saints (6-7) with 13 points. Amanda Hilton scored 12 points and Kyra Washington double-doubled with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
