Warmer weather brings out the sledders in Elgin

Higher temperatures and a slight dusting of snow combined to help fill the sledding hills Thursday at Wing Park in Elgin. Families, kids and a few dogs were seen taking a ride down the short hill at the north end of the park.

Complete with his Santa hat that he has worn every day for the past month — and a rather large grin — 6-year-old Christian Tiesberg of Englewood, Colo., took a few tumbles as he repeatedly headed up down the sledding hill.

“Even though we are from Colorado, this is still a perfect sledding hill for a 6-year-old,” said his mother, Ellen, who is originally from the Elgin area and was home visiting her mom.
