Lake County residents find fun in blanket of snow

About 2 inches of snow blanketed the Lake County area overnight creating a beautiful white wonderland and excellent conditions for local sledding hills on Thursday.

Jordan Freed of Mundelein spent the morning shoveling snow with his three-year-old son, Mason, who played with his new Christmas presents. “He loves to help out, and this year I found a shovel his size,” Freed said.

Libertyville residents Martin and Robin Frey took daughters Jillian, 6, and Emaline, 9, ice skating at Adler Park in Libertyville.

“Ever since Emaline was old enough to skate, we’ve been coming to this park,” said Martin Frey.

The park features two sledding hills, an ice rink and a warming house during the winter months.
