About 2 inches of snow blanketed the Lake County area overnight creating a beautiful white wonderland and excellent conditions for local sledding hills on Thursday.

Jordan Freed of Mundelein spent the morning shoveling snow with his three-year-old son, Mason, who played with his new Christmas presents. "He loves to help out, and this year I found a shovel his size," Freed said.
