New bars, restaurants gear up for first New Year's

No matter what kind of year it's been for you, 2013 is ending and there's no better way to break with the past than going somewhere new to celebrate. Whether you're looking for a nice dinner, a place where you can celebrate with the kids or a party that will last all night, you can welcome 2014 at one of these suburban spots, which all opened this year and are celebrating their first New Year's Eve.

8000 Miles, 107 Main St., Roselle, (630) 283-0053, 8000milesrestaurant.com: Grab a group of six or more to order the restaurant's regular “group share menu” for $20 per person and you'll be entered in a drawing for dinner for two during the restaurant's New Year celebration. The meal includes pork pot stickers, spicy chili fish and kung pao tofu, plus a glass of champagne and a chocolate dessert.

American Tap, 701 W. Lake St., Addison, (630) 628-5800, american-tap.com: Celebrate with a drink package, buffet, live music and party favors. Tickets cost $60.

Crazy Pour, 105 E. North Ave., Villa Park, (630) 758-0099, crazypour.com: A $75 food and drink package includes appetizers, pasta, chicken dishes and premium liquor from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. A DJ spins hits and does video mixing, and the Effen girls will be making an appearance. Midnight brings a champagne toast and balloon drop.

e+o Food and Drink, 125 W. Randhurst Village, Mount Prospect, (847) 398-3636, www.eofoodanddrink.com: From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., the restaurant offers a $29.95 per person buffet, with a champagne toast included. Drink specials include $2 beers and $6 cocktails. Make reservations in advance.

M T Barrels, 1712 W. Wise Road, Schaumburg, (847) 301-9800, mtbarrels. com: You can opt for a $60 premium drink package from 7 p.m. to midnight or start at 8 or 9 p.m. for $50 or $40, respectively. The cover is $10 without a package. The bar will also be giving out party favors and a champagne toast. DJ Hurricane spins from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Rack House Kitchen and Tavern, 222 E. Algonquin Road, Arlington Heights, (847) 640-7225, www.rackhousetavern.com: Diners can toast the new year with champagne and wine specials including $6 Korbel Splits, $7 glasses of Girl Go Lightly Rose and bottles of Girl Go Lightly Rose for $26.

Tavern '45, 350 McHenry Road, Buffalo Grove, (847) 821-9000, tavern45.com: Families can come to Brunswick's entertainment center and tavern from 4 to 7 p.m. where $80 gets a group of four a round of bowling, shoe rentals, a $5 game card for each person, a game of laser tag, a dish from the kids menu for anyone younger than 13, a sparkling cider toast, noisemakers and party hats. Admission for grown-ups from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. is $100 per lane and you'll get all the entertainment from the early package plus three small plates and a champagne toast.

Warren's Ale House, 51 Town Square, Wheaton, (630) 462-5126, warrensalehouse.com: Graze on a buffet ($17; $10 for kids) including roasted butternut squash bisque, Caesar salad, grilled chicken breast with pesto cream sauce, ravioli, roasted Brussels sprouts, cheesy mashed potatoes, meatloaf and slow-roasted ham with pineapple relish. The family-friendly celebration culminates with a countdown and balloon drop at 7:30 p.m.

The Wise Boxer Pour House, 16 W. Jefferson Ave., Naperville, (630) 717-0400, thewiseboxerpourhouse.com: You can dine from the regular menu or order one of three special four-course dinners priced at $35 to $45, with options including tuna poke, Caesar salad, potato-crusted whitefish and carrot cake. A DJ spins and everyone gets party favors and a midnight champagne toast.
