South suburban man charged in cleaver attack

A South suburban man is being held on $750,000 bond after authorities say he attacked a man with a meat cleaver.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that 31-year-old Brian Herman of Chicago Heights is charged with three counts of attempted murder, disorderly conducted and aggravated battery. Shaquietta Brison, 25, is facing similar charges in Friday’s attack and is being held on $100,000 bond.

Prosecutors say the pair lured the 19-year-old to a home and began attack him with the cleaver and a stun gun.

A neighbor called police after hearing screams.

Authorities didn’t offer a motive for the attack during a court hearing Sunday.

The injured man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where doctors treated cuts on his face and hands.

It wasn’t clear of Herman and Brison had attorneys.
