Parkview Elementary third-grader Nathanial Santiago bows his head in prayer during the Veterans Day ceremony at the Carpentersville school in early November. This image jumped out at me during my edit that day, but I opted for images of veterans, first responders and current military personnel in attendance. I love the way he was bowing his head amid the sea of his classmates waving their flags and looking around. This photo was published in the weekly Perspective column in the print edtion.
