Madigan: State’s most prolific child porn trader arrested

Two McHenry County men face child pornography charges, including an Algonquin man described as the state’s most prolific trader of child porn.

Robert A. Huggins, 63, of Algonquin, was arrested Thursday after authorities searched his home on the 2100 block of Honey Locust Drive. He posted 10 perccent of $150,000 bail Friday morning and was released while the case is pending, according to the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office said Huggins was the state’s “highest volume trader of child pornography at the time of his arrest.”

“In the lead-up to the arrest, he was seen offering up to 1,200 (computer) files for trade,” said Madigan spokeswoman Maura Possley. She said she couldn’t comment on how that compared to other past child pornography arrests.

Huggins faces five felony counts each of reproduction of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

The most serious charges carries a prison term of six to 30 years. Huggins could be eligible for consecutive sentences.

David M. Wolters, 58, of Woodstock was arrested Wednesday after authorities searched his home on the 1400 block of Walnut Drive. He is charged with five felony counts of child pornography and faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Wolters is being held on $5,000 bail and is next due in court on Monday.

According to Madigan’s office, “Operation Glass House” has now resulted in 54 arrests across the state. The McHenry County state’s attorney’s office will prosecute both cases, which were the result of work from the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

“Online child pornography is a horrific crime that victimizes children each time an image is downloaded or traded,” Madigan said in a statement.
