West Chicago's Gallery Theater Announces Audition Dates for Spring Production

Gallery Theater of West Chicago has announced audition dates for its upcoming spring production of Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park" on January 16, 2014 from 7:00 - 8:15 p.m., January 18, 2014 from 4:00 - 5:15 p.m. and January 19, 2014 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. The play runs March 14, 15 and 16, 2014 with a possible extension to include March 22 and 23, 2014.

This classic Simon play focuses on newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter and their adventures living in a tiny sixth floor walk-up apartment in a Greenwich Village brownstone. Stuffed-shirt Paul is a hard-working, young attorney just starting his practice, while spontaneous bride Corie is determined to create a romantic environment in one room with no heat, a hole in the skylight, an oddball neighbor and her mother dropping by.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Monologues are always welcome, but not mandatory. Characters to be cast include:

• Corie Bratter – ages 23 to 32

• Paul Bratter – ages 25 to 33

• Mrs. Ethyl Banks – ages 45 to 58

• Victor Velasco – ages 45 to 65

• Telephone Man/Delivery Man – ages 38 to 55

Auditions will be held at Gallery 200/STUDIO, 203 Turner Court, West Chicago.

Note: The stage play is not the same as the movie. Sides are available.
