US education secretary to visit Chicago school

U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will visit Chicago for a pair of events on Monday.

Duncan will visit Benito Juarez Community Academy and take part in a round-table discussion with staff from the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.

Students, parents and teachers will discuss work at the academy and progress toward increasing graduation rates, as well as access for Hispanics to postsecondary programs.

Duncan will also attend a dinner meeting at the Economic Club of Chicago and join Wendy Kopp for a moderated wide-ranging discussion on education issues. Kopp is CEO of Teach for All and founder of Teach for America. Local business and civic leaders will attend the dinner.
