Palatine man charged with resisting arrest in domestic disturbance

A Palatine man faces two charges after he got into a domestic disturbance and tried to attack responding police officers, authorities said.

Police said Andrew Castillo, 25, of the 800 block of Panorama Drive, was charged with two counts of domestic-related disorderly conduct and one count of resisting a police officer. Bond was set at $3,500 and at a hearing in the Rolling Meadows branch of Cook County circuit court. His next court date is Jan. 2.

Officers were summoned to a different address on the 800 block of Panorama at 2:50 a.m. Friday regarding a man kicking an apartment door and yelling at the occupants. Authorities said Castillo’s girlfriend and child had taken refuge in the apartment after a domestic disturbance that involved him about an hour earlier.

Castillo was confronted by responding officers, who told him to stop shouting and banging on the apartment door because the occupants believed there were being threatened and feared for their safety, according to police.

However, Castillo refused to listen to the commands and tried to head-butt and bite the officers several times, authorities said. After resisting, police said, Castillo eventually was taken into custody.
