Improv Playhouse invites young actors to audition

Auditions will be held for “Into The Woods Jr.,” an adaptation of one of Sondheim and Lapine’s most popular works designed especially for young performers, from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Improv Playhouse North Shore Training Center, 1991 Sheridan Road, Highland Park.

Beginning to experienced actors in grades 3-8 are welcomed to audition

Characters like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk), and the Witch meet and interact in this whimsical story.

Directed by Danielle Coody, with Music Director Matt McGrath, rehearsals will be from 10 to noon Saturdays and 1-3 p.m. Sundays beginning Saturday, Jan. 11, with performances March 21-23.

An audition will also be held for actors in grades 3-8 for the classic musical “Oliver,” an IP-Showstoppers production, from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Improv Playhouse Theater, 735 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville. Beginning to experienced young actors are welcomed to audition.

Based on the Dickens novel “Oliver Twist,” the musical features musical numbers like “Food, Glorious Food,” “I’d Do Anything,” “Where is Love?” “Consider Yourself,” “As Long As He Needs Me,” “Who Will Buy” and “Reviewing the Situation.”

Directed by Zach D’Antonio, rehearsals will be from 4-6 p.m. Fridays and 1-3 p.m. Saturdays beginning Friday, Jan. 10, with performances Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and 6.
