Streamwood police sponsor food drive

The Streamwood Police Department will conduct a Food Drive to benefit the Hanover Township Food Pantry at a combined beat meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the Streamwood Police Department, 401 E. Irving Park Road. The Hanover Township Food Pantry provides for families from Streamwood, Hanover Park and Bartlett.

The following lists of items are needed: Macaroni and cheese, canned tuna/chicken, soup, cereal, pancake mix/syrup, Hamburger Helper/Tuna Helper, peanut butter, jelly, instant potatoes, paper goods, personal care items (i.e. shampoo, conditioner, soap) and laundry detergent.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, donated items will be accepted at the police department.

In conjunction with the food drive, a guest speaker will be on hand to educate resident’s about “Ruse Entry Burglaries.”

Dr. Ken Blanchad, a 30-year member of the Norridge Police Department and an expert in the area of crimes against the elderly and ruse-entry burglaries will be on hand to provide prevention methods to reduce your chance of becoming victimized by these highly organized burglary crews.
