Warren students send care packages to troops overseas

Over a two-month period, students in government classes at the Warren Township High School, O’Plaine campus, donated goods and money to put together care packages for troops overseas.

Freshman and sophomore students were able to provide more than 20 care packages for servicemen and women that were sent to family and friends of their community. Care packages contained items such as Cliff bars, magazines, tooth brushes, tooth paste, crackers, beef jerky, hard candy, sunglasses, decks of cards, body wash and other items commonly requested by soldiers. Students also wrote thank you letters and expressed their gratitude for their service.

Money was donated from the PowderPuff event that was held during homecoming. The Shipping Point of Gurnee was very helpful in donating shipping supplies, as well as assisting with the shipping of the packages.
