Haeffele, Tisza Top Finishers at Wisconsin Open

The Harper wrestling team competed against a loaded field, including four Big Ten Conference Schools, at the 42nd-Annual Wisconsin Open on Saturday. Harper's Daniel Haeffele (/Grant) and Blake Tisza (/Thornton Fractional South) led the Hawks with fourth and fifth place finishes in their weight classes.

Haeffele, who competed at the heavy weight division, lost his first match to Adam Latelle (unattached) by fall but bounced back in impressive fashion. After a bye, he defeated Triton's Darvell Burgess in 1:14 and then knocked off Illinois State's Kyle Ressinger in 2:46.

Haeffele won his next match by forfeit to set up a third place match with UW-Parkside's Brady Stumpf, a match won 4-2 by Stumpf.

Tisza (141 pounds) started his day strong with an 8-1 win over UW-Parkside's Zach Skarda before falling in a tight match (4-3) to UW-Whitewater's Matt Adcock. After a pair of byes, Tisza topped teammate Greshman Henderson (/Lake Zurich) 2-1.

He then lost to Purdue University's Nick Lawrence 10-2 but finished his day with a forfeit win over North Central's Andrew Rodawold to capture fifth place.

The Hawks return to the mat this upcoming Saturday at the Art Kraft Memorial Open, hosted by Triton College.
