The holiday season is upon us and with so many family gatherings revolving around food, this time of year can present a special challenge when it comes to staying healthy.

It's easy to overindulge and while an extra one or two pounds may not seem like a big deal, most Americans never lose the weight they gain during the holidays, according to a National Institutes of Health study.
