St. Edward makes it 7-0

The St. Edward boys basketball team made it seven straight wins to start the season Friday night with a 62-46 win over Illinois Math and Sciences Academy in the third round of the Aurora Christian Classic.

Joseph French led St. Edward with 15 points, while Nick Duffy and DaVontae Elam each had 12.

The Green Wave will try to make it 8-0 when they take on host Aurora Christian tonight.

U-High 70, Elgin Academy 24: The Hilltoppers (1-2) were unable to get it going offensively at U-High outside of sophomore Dietrich Robinson. Robinson had 16 points to go along with leading the team with 2 rebounds and 4 steals.

Westminster Christian 72, Keith Country Day 34: Thanks to a big night from Sam Carani, the Warriors (3-2, 1-0) were able to cruise to their first Northeastern Athletics Conference victory of the season at home. Carani had 26 points while teammate Ryan McDonaugh was able to lock down a double-double thanks to 17 rebounds and 11 points.

Burlington Central 51, Rock Falls 50: Reed Hunnicutt scored 18 points and James Raney added 11 to lead the Rockets (4-1) to a Big Northern crossover win.
