Des Plaines welcomes holiday season

It was an evening of holiday cheer in Des Plaines on Friday, as residents gathered in Metropolitan Square to light the holiday tree, be entertained by singers and dancers and welcome Santa Claus.

Before the festivities began, students decorated the trees with handmade ornaments. And when Santa and Mayor Matt Bogusz threw the switch to light the main tree, all the decorations in downtown Des Plaines came on, too.
