Local Tournament to Benefit Community Crisis Center

Kim's Black Belt Academy and Kyuki-Do Martial Arts of Elgin are competing Saturday, December 7th from 2 - 5 pm in their 3rd annual tournament. Registration proceeds will benefit The Community Crisis Center of Elgin. Dubbed "Spar Wars" the event was created as a friendly way to introduce students to a tournament environment. "When individuals are required to perform in a stressful situation and are successful, the confidence boost is huge!" explained Rick Steinmaier, Director of Operations for both academies. Students will have an opportunity to compete in Forms, Sparring or Freestyle. Parents are the judges for the event involving over 55 competitors. The event is open to the public. Admission is a voluntary donation with proceeds benefiting the Community Crisis Center. The tournament is hosted by Kyuki-Do Martial Arts of Elgin at 792 S. McLean Blvd., Elgin. For more information, please call the academy at 888-250-8555
