Dog excercise area opens:
Access to the Independence Grove Dog Exercise Area on Milwaukee Avenue north of Route 137 in Libertyville is complete and the site will reopen Friday. New site enhancements include: a dedicated left-turn lane into the dog area and new parking lot; improved beach access; resurfaced trails; and, new fences and gates. Road work along Milwaukee Avenue continues. Annual dog exercise area permits are available for purchase online, or by calling or visiting the Lake County Forest Preserve general offices in Libertyville, (847) 367-6640 or (847) 968-3411. Daily permits are also available and can be purchased in advance at www.lcfpd.org or at self-pay stations in the parking lot at each site.
