Chicago man held on $150,000 bail in Naperville robbery

A 17-year-old Chicago man charged with entering a Naperville garage and robbing a resident at gunpoint is being held on $150,000 bail in DuPage County.

Marquies James is accused of stealing a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder Saturday in Chicago. While driving through Naperville on Sunday, authorities said James targeted a man working on his tablet in his garage.

James entered the man's garage and attempted to take the tablet, authorities said. After a brief struggle, James pulled a gun, took the tablet and fled.

Naperville police found James a short time later walking along a street and arrested him after a brief chase.

The gun turned out to be a toy, authorities said.

“This alleged brazen behavior, entering someone's home, threatening them at gunpoint and stealing from them, will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” DuPage County States Attorney Robert Berlin said in a written statement.

James has been charged with one count of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and one count of aggravated robbery. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday morning in front of Judge Robert Kleeman.
