Two injured in Elgin rollover

Two teens suffered injuries Friday after their car rolled over, struck a fence and a deck on a home in Elgin.

Elgin Police Sgt. Chris Troiola said a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant was headed west on when its 19-year-old driver tried to pass another vehicle. Another car was coming, so the driver didn't complete the pass and then struck the deck of a home on the 900 block of Bode Road.

“It looks like he overcorrected to get back into his lane and he lost control,” Troiola said.

The driver and 13-year-old passenger were taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin for non-life-threatening injuries, Troiola said. The driver was ticketed for improper lane use and no proof of insurance.
