Woman hit by car, 'critically injured' in Lombard

Lombard police said a woman, believed to be in her 60s, was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle Friday night near the intersection of Roosevelt Road and School Street in Lombard.

Lombard police said the accident occurred at 7:23 p.m.

Police said the driver, a man also about 60 years old, was driving in the westbound lanes on Roosevelt Road when the car hit the woman.

The woman was transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

Police said the incident is still being investigated.

The speed limit in the area is 35 miles per hour, and the intersection does not have a signal.

The westbound lanes were blocked until about 10 p.m., police said.
