Man convicted in Evansville restaurant stabbing

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Jurors have convicted a man of fatally stabbing his pregnant wife at an Evansville fast-food restaurant.

The Vanderburgh County jury found 41-year-old Anthony Goffinet guilty of murder Thursday for the June 2012 death of Kathleen Goffinet.

Witnesses said Kathleen Goffinet ran into a nearby parking lot yelling for help and saying that her husband had just stabbed her. She later died at a hospital.

Authorities say Goffinet fled the Taco Bell restaurant on the city’s east side with the couple’s 3-year-old daughter after the attack. The Evansville Courier & Press reports police found Goffinet with the help of a couple who followed his car and called 911.

Goffinet’s defense attorney has said that Goffinet didn’t intend to kill his wife.
