Second Lisle man charged in playground fire

A second Lisle man is facing felony charges in connection with an August fire that destroyed playground equipment at a park near Lisle.

Tyler M. Croy, 21, of the 5500 block of Elm Street, has been charged with one count of criminal damage to state-supported property and one count of criminal damage to property by fire or explosives.

The Thursday announcement of Croy’s arrest came a day after authorities said similar charges had been filed against Michael Bucher, 22, of the 5400 block of Burr Oak Street in Lisle.

Shortly before 5 a.m. Aug. 13, DuPage County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a fire at Kingston Park in an unincorporated area near Lisle.

The blaze caused more than $10,000 to the playground equipment, officials estimate.

After the fire was deemed “suspicious” by the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District, the case was turned over to sheriff’s detectives for an investigation that resulted in this week’s arrests.

Bucher and Croy were being held Thursday at the DuPage County jail on $35,000 and $15,000 bail, respectively.
