The McAninch Arts Center sets grand opening, 2014 season

The McAninch Arts Center, on the College of DuPage campus in Glen Ellyn, reopens in February following a 14-month, $35 million renovation.

Grammy Award-winning bluesman Keb Mo kicks off the MAC’S 2014 performance series on Feb. 8. The official MAC grand opening takes place March 8 and features Jim Belushi and the Chicago Board of Comedy in a benefit performance, with proceeds supporting the COD Foundation and the MAC fund.

Headliners include satirist David Sedaris (March 16), Celtic ensemble Cherish The Ladies (March 28) and Pilobolus Dance Theatre (April 17), among others.

In addition to an 800-seat performance hall, the renovated complex includes a 195-seat Playhouse Theatre, black box studio theater, the Cleve Carney Art Gallery, an outdoor stage and classrooms.

MAC interim executive director Diana Martinez said in a prepared statement that the MAC “promises to be the destination to experience the visual and performing arts in the western suburbs.”
