Lake Zurich Middle School South to stage ‘Little Mermaid’

Lake Zurich Middle School South is preparing to put on a play involving a cast and crew of about 100 students.

Three performances of “The Little Mermaid Jr.” are set to take the stage Nov. 21-23 at the school, 435 W. Cuba Road. The performances will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 and 22 and 1 p.m. Nov. 23, with doors opening 30 minutes before each show.

The musical is based on Disney’s 2008 Broadway production. General seating tickets will be sold at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $10 for adults and $8 for students and children.

In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above.

But first she’ll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking.

The Lake Zurich Middle School South student production team includes Christa Gebhart and Megan Kaminski as student directors; Nathan Holbrook, Gabby Dudek, Valerie Dobrow and Jessica Kroczak as dance captains; Nicole Savage as house manager; Will Snyder and Alyson Wisnionski as stage managers; Tommy Davis as tech manager; and Allison Huynh as graphic design and projection manager.

Adult production team members include drama instructor Jacqui Heinemann as director; music teacher Kelly Harper as musical director; Kathy and Tony Mirabelli as choreographers; sixth-grade instructor Jennifer Foreman as production assistant; sixth-grade teacher Kim Warren as costumer; and Brad Mundschenk on stage craft.
