Chavarria (27 points) paces Leyden victory
Junior guard Alondra Chavarria scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to lead Leyden to a 54-48 win over Fenton in the opening round of the Addison Trail-Fenton Tournament on Tuesday night.
Chavarria’s driving layup and a free throw sealed the win for the Eagles, who also received 10 points apiece from freshman point guard Tay Gusman and senior forward Liz McCluskey.
Junior Jannely Hernandez and sophomore Rebecca Miranda each had 6 rebounds for Leyden while freshman Autumn McGee added 5.
