Palatine man charged with endangering child, resisting police
A 30-year-old Palatine man faces aggravated battery and child endangerment charges after police say he struck the woman baby-sitting for his 6-week-old child.
Police accuse Jordan T. Nichols, of the 1900 block of Hicks Road, of returning home intoxicated shortly after midnight Sunday. The baby sitter, fearing for the infant’s safety, told Nichols she’d watch the child while Nichols slept. The woman and Nichols argued, and Nichols reportedly struck the woman several times in the head, police said.
As officers attempted to take Nichols into custody, he fought with them, head butting one of the officers and breaking his nose, authorities said. The officer and Nichols were treated at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights and released.
Nichols also faces charges of resisting a peace officer. He is being held on $35,000 bond.
He next appears in court on Dec. 12.
