One person was hospitalized after a rollover crash that closed Route 53 for more than an hour Tuesday night.

State police responded to the two-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of Route 53 near Palatine Road at 6:08 p.m., Master Sgt. Amy Pelletier said.

The crash involved a car and a pickup truck; the truck flipped over in the crash, and the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Pelletier said.

Police did not have information about the severity of the driver's injuries or what caused the crash.

All northbound lanes were closed until 7:20 p.m., and traffic was backed up to the I-90 interchange, Pelletier said. The crash is still under investigation.
