The holiday season is upon us and while you're making a gift list for your loved ones, consider giving them a better YOU. The Addison Park District and Club Fitness are hosting a Community Fitness Challenge which starts December 5th. Your personal results after this 12-week challenge will astound you: your energy level will be higher; your clothes will fit better and your stress level will go down. Your friends, family and co-workers will notice a new you in 2014!

Participants will receive free membership to Club Fitness during the contest, weekly meetings with a certified personal trainer and entries into weekly prize drawings. Teams of four will receive team points for meeting weekly fitness goals and the overall winner at the end of the contest will be awarded a cash prize along with fitness gifts.

The contest is based on individual and team success. Each week, participants will weigh-in and consult with the coaches. Your weight is kept confidential throughout the contest. The coaches are certified personal trainers who will provide weekly health topics. There will be a health assessment given to everyone at the start and end of the challenge. Individual success is determined by percent loss of body composition.

Teams are encouraged to order healthy meal options from local restaurants and participate in physical activities throughout the community. Participating Addison restaurants and businesses will be promoted at Club Fitness during the 12-week contest. Teams will be judged on three criteria: total percentage of weight loss as a team, team participation in the Community Challenge Events and team spirit judged by online Facebook participation.

If you've resolved to lose weight each New Year's Eve and haven't stuck with your intentions, perhaps you simply need a head-start on your goals. By starting December 5th you'll give yourself a 3 week lead. Get a team of 4 together for group motivation or participate on your own. So do it -- sign up for the Community Fitness Challenge today!
