Residents tied up in Hoffman Ests. home invasion

Residents were tied up in a Hoffman Estates home invasion Wednesday morning, police said.

A man armed with a handgun entered an unlocked house on the 1900 block of Chelmsford Place around 10:13 a.m. and demanded money, police reports said.

Residents told police he tied them up, then took personal items and an undisclosed amount of money.

One of the victims received minor injuries when struck by the offender. The victims freed themselves and ran to a neighbor’s house where they called police.

The robber was described as a male black, approximately 30 years old, 6 feet tall, medium build, wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt, dark jeans, black work boots and with a white bandanna covering his face.
