Southwestern Ill. woman accused of home invasion

GRANITE CITY, — A southwestern Illinois woman is charged after authorities say she tried to run down her husband with her car after damaging her mother-in-law’s vehicle and forcing her way into the woman’s home.

Prosecutors in Madison County have charged 43-year-old Debra Williams of Granite City with home invasion.

Sheriff’s investigators say that after going to her mother-in-law’s home in search of her husband, Williams broke a window on the woman’s car with a jack stand, entered the relative’s home, broke a vase and stole a laptop before fleeing.

She later tried to run over his husband after finding him walking. He was unharmed.

Online court records don’t show whether Williams has an attorney yet. Her home telephone number is unlisted.
