CTA board approves $1.3B budget for 2014

The Chicago Transit Authority’s board has approved a $1.3 billion budget for 2014 that doesn’t include fare increases.

The CTA says in a Wednesday news release that the budget also doesn’t include any changes in service levels. The agency says it will continue its $4 billion capital investment plan that it started in 2011. It includes rehabilitating rail stations and the bus fleet.

The CTA estimates ridership will reach 534.6 million passengers in 2014.
