Twenty-one-year-old Darius Oliver died in the shooting, which authorities said at the time may have been gang-related.

Police say Patterson was charged while he was already in custody for another shooting nearby that took place almost two weeks later.

It wasn't immediately clear if Patterson had an attorney and no telephone listing for him could be found.
