Man gets 7 years for assaulting Hanover Park girl

A Chicago man was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old Hanover Park girl.

Jarick Harris, 20, of the 1000 block of Vermont Avenue, pleaded guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault, a class X felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Harris assaulted the victim periodically from May 2010 until September 2012.

Additionally, Harris must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, prosecutors said. He must complete at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
