Outrun the chill with a 5K run and warm up afterward with a chili lunch.
Schaumburg Park District's annual 5K Chilly Chili Race will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Schaumburg Golf Club, 401 N. Roselle Road. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 9:45 a.m. There will be a pre-race briefing at 9:45 a.m. A chili lunch will be served after the 3.1 mile run on the USATF-certified course. Participants ages 21 and older will receive one free beer. Additional beer and soda will be available for purchase.
Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners as well as the first-, second- and third-place male and female winners in the 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and older age categories. Award certificates will be distributed the day of the event.
Preregistration cost is $35. The preregistration deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26. The first 200 participants to register are guaranteed a long-sleeve hooded shirt that will be available for pickup at 8 a.m. on race day. Day-of registration cost is $40. Race day registration will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 9:45 a.m. Race-day registrants may receive a shirt at registration if available.
The 5K Chilly Chili Race is a Schaumburg CAN (Children-Activity-Nutrition) program. Schaumburg CAN's mission is to align the community around opportunities that build a foundation of healthy activity and nutrition for children.
