CLC Foundation’s annual scholarship gala set for Nov. 16

Friends of the College of Lake County will be “Puttin’ on the Ritz” to raise funds for student scholarships at the CLC Foundation’s annual scholarship gala, the Black and White Ball, on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago, a Four Seasons Hotel.

The gala will include hors d’oeuvres, open bar, silent auction, raffles, games, a gourmet dinner, a live auction and dancing in the elegant ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton overlooking Michigan Avenue. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Ron Harris Group. Tickets are $300 each, and all proceeds support the CLC Foundation Scholarship Fund.

The CLC Foundation is dedicated to helping students through its scholarship awards program. Last year, the Foundation made 857 individual scholarship awards, totaling about $500,000. More than $1.5 million has already been raised in the Changing Lives Scholarship Campaign, which began in 2011.

Joanna Rolek, president of the CLC Foundation board of directors, works as executive director of the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce, so she understands the importance of an educated workforce.

“Access to college isn’t just important to improving the individual lives of our students,” Rolek said. “It’s also essential to the vitality of our local community and economy. CLC graduates generate millions of dollars in local, state and federal tax revenues, and they support schools, businesses and other vital community services. And CLC graduates comprise a skilled local workforce — an essential asset for employers in a global economy in which human capital is the competitive edge. We invite members of the Lake County business community who depend on an educated workforce to come out and support our student scholarship campaign by attending the Black and White Ball.”
