Mundelein High School gets $500 theater grant

The Mundelein High School theater department recently received a $500 grant from the Kirk Players Community Theatre group. The money will be used to purchase stage lighting, school theater director Jonathan Meier said.

The check was presented by Sheila Bourque, Kirk Players president, who cited the long relationship between MHS and Kirk Players. The community theater performs many of its productions in the MHS Auditorium and the two groups have collaborated on productions in recent years, including “Up the Down Staircase” in 2009 and “David & Lisa” in 2012.

In addition, Kirk Players offers a scholarship each spring to an MHS performing arts graduate. This year, it will be worth $1,500.
