Wheeling’s literary magazine fundraiser at Barnes and Noble

Wheeling High School’s literary magazine, Circus, will host its seventh annual fundraiser at Barnes & Noble in Arlington Heights at Rand and Arlington Heights Roads on Saturday, Nov. 9, for early holiday shoppers.

Barnes & Noble will contribute a percentage of every sale made that day with a special book fair voucher to Circus. Vouchers will be available online at www.whs.d214.org. If shoppers use the book fair number (at the bottom of the voucher: (11102290)) at any Barnes & Noble location or online at www.barnesandnoble.com, a percentage of the proceeds will go to Circus.

Circus showcases Wheeling High School student poetry, prose, and art. Circus is partnering with Barnes & Noble booksellers to sponsor this event, in an effort to raise funds to continue printing a free copy for every Wheeling student, to print more art pages in color, and possibly even create a CD of original student music and spoken-word.

Circus staff is working with the WHS social workers to gather wish lists from less fortunate kids within the Wheeling community. Shoppers may use this list to donate items to this holiday drive.

To encourage the community members to participate in the fundraiser, Circus students are hosting events for a variety of ages, including story time and a Where’s Waldo? hunt. An events agenda with times is available on the Wheeling High School home page.
