Hampshire’s O’Brien steps down

Longtime Hampshire High School soccer coach Pat O’Brien has announced he is stepping down after many successful seasons of leading the Hampshire soccer programs.

O’Brien led the boys program from 2003 to 2007 and the girls from 2004 to the present.

His girls program made three consecutive appearances at the Class A state finals, finishing fourth in 2007 and runner-up in 2008.

“It will be extremely difficult to find a coaching candidate with coach O’Brien’s experience and success. His record at the state tournament ranks high with his peers. He has set high standards in his program,” said Hampshire athletic director Dave Hicks.
