Chess master to play Cook County inmates
One of the best chess players in the country will be at Cook County jail to challenge inmates.
The Cook County jail has been running an inmate chess program. Ten prisoners have won internal jail tournaments to earn the right to play chess master Timur Gareev.
There’s one hitch — Gareev will play blindfolded and he’ll take on all ten inmates simultaneously.
Cook County Sheriff’s Office officials say Gareev will stay after Friday’s event to talk with inmates about how to improve their games.
Chicago inmates have previously played online chess matches against in Russia.
